1pt win TAROTINO EBF 13/2 ( Betfair) Sunderlands NH Novice Hurdle Final
1pt win OTTO DES PICTONS 13/2 ( Ladbokes) EB F Sunderlands NH Novice Hurdle Final

Plenty of interesting runners here. Come Autumn time, this is a race that everyone will give consideration to when looking to compile their list of staying novice chasers to keep on the right side of - though it has a mixed history as a future guide for that sphere. The contest Taratino won at Fakenham last time looked a warm little contest, with the immediate three that followed him home all having been convincing winners on their previous outings. I'm trusting that he'll get the trip on this stiffer track - the Chepstow run in December is inconclusive as he's on the upward curve now and he will surely figure in the shake up here.

Otto Des Pictons has a nine pound pull for a two and a half length beating by Taratino at Wincanton. There is every reason to believe that there won't be much between them again, dispite the winner appearing to improve further on his next outing. He also meets The Sawyer on much better terms for the Plumpton defeat - and that winner had a very hard race when running below par at Haydock last time. He has a nice racing weight for the conditions and there is of course a strong liklehood that there is far better to come from him.

Lost - 2 pts

2pts win GASPARA Sunderlands Imperial Cup 7/2 ( Skybet)
1pt win BORDER CASTLE Sunderlands Imperial Cup 19/1 ( Betfair)

Pond House have a fine record in this event and Gaspara has no doubt had this race planned for her for a couple of months now. The two that followed her home at Chepstow have both gone on to win on their next outings - Classic Fiddle looking a nice prospect in her own right. Time will probably show that Gaspara is attractively handicapped here and she is selected with a degree of confidence.

Border Castle is worth support in the hope that the blinds will have the desired effect. Lightly raced, but useful on the level, he clearly relished the testing conditions when coming up the hill strongly to win at Cheltenham in December. Now 12lb higher in the ratings, and not seen since disappointing soon after, he does however give the impression that he is most effective when fresh, and is worth speculative support at current odds.

Gaspara Won + 6pts
